The patron saint of all things fabulous is Saint Di Di Martin of Assisi. At the onset of his career he was lauded for his bold use of peach and beige to accent the ecclesiastical dark over cloak.

But many found his hair style - shaving the center of his head leaving a heavily moused rim of hair - a bit disconcerting. It wasn’t until the introduction of the halo as a fashion mode that the industry came to realize that the center scalp shave aided in mitigating the heat emanating from the luminescent, divine head adornment. He was immediately promoted to a saintly status for his stylish application of pragmatism.

The patented coif remained popular for centuries until the gripping drama of the criminal trial of Jesus Christ came along and popularized a full head of hair worn in a longish manor. Sensing change in the air, Saint Di Di advocated a simpler dress code that included muted earth tones to accent the new, increasingly popular hair style. A mode and palette that was quickly adopted by the young savior of man who was rapidly becoming a household name.

But, even with a tacit celebrity endorsement in favor of Di Di’s earth tone and sandal look, there was some concern whether it would have the same longevity of his previous styling efforts. The less than favorable conclusion of Jesus’ criminal trial had pundits chattering that Di Di’s fashion trend was doomed to a guilt by association scenario. However, the unexpected and miraculous resurrection three days after the conclusion of the trial insured that Di Di’s vision would become a historical mainstay.

So today, when you get dressed, keep the patron saint of fabulous, Di Di Martin of Assisi, in mind. And, if you have a moment, drop a $20.00 gift card to Bloomingdale’s in the collection box of your favorite church in Saint Di Di’s honor.
